American Visionary Art Museum

Specializing in works made by self-taught artists who have very little or no formal training, the American Visionary Art Museum not only features very impressive temporary exhibits as they travel from gallery to gallery, but is home to a collection of more than 4000 pieces. Overall, the Museum covers three buildings, a garden and a plaza; each hosting various works. The main building covers six galleries over three stories. The Tall Sculpture Barn is a former whiskey warehouse building with 45-foot-high ceilings, accommodating very large sculptures and other work. The Museum Shop occupies the third space, and is filled with hand-crafted knick-knacks, jewelry, books, toys, clothing and more. This art museum is definitely unlike any other you’ve seen, and well worth a visit!
